The company has manufacturing units at Aurangabad (Maharashtra), Bhiwadi and Chopanki (Rajasthan) and Bhuj (Gujarat). The Greenfield plant in Bhuj spread across 300 acres is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities. The in-house mould design and production unit at Dombivli (Maharashtra) has enabled BKT in achieving production flexibility and frequent change-over in the production cycle within a short time, resulting in a faster concept-to-market product rollout.
In the short term, the company focuses with a three-fold strategy of expanding its reach in the global market through the launch of new products and extension of its existing ranges. The vision is to double its current 6 per cent market share in speciality segment.
Emphasis on R&D
Research & Development (R&D) forms the basis of BKT. With its emphasis and regular investment in R&D, it complies with all national and international regulatory, statutory and pollution control norms. BKT designs, develops and releases 150-160 new tyre sizes every year. BKT is the first off-highway tyre manufacturer in India to be REACH compliant for its entire range of products and has the world?s fastest turnaround time of 8-10 weeks for new product development.
Product range
BKT provides 2,300 different stock keeping units (SKUs) for various kinds of applications. It is the first tyre company in India to produce the all-steel radial OTR tyres, thus joining an elite class of all-steel OTR manufacturers in the world. BKT has products from 5?-54? rim diameter, available for the traditional vehicles like dumpers, graders, trailers, forklifts, implements etc, to the technologically advanced machines like high horsepower tractors, combines, harvestors, GPS controlled vehicles, articulated dump trucks, high-speed cranes, sophisticated port vehicles and container handlers, etc. For the high power tractors, there are the latest ?IF? technology tyres which can be used at low pressure on the field as well as the road.
Sustainable development
The BKT logo comprising green shades represents the ?green philosophy? of the company. BKT markets itself as a sustainable company adopting an eco-friendly approach towards its operations and succeeds in it as well. It is the first Indian tyre manufacturing company to meet all the essentials and quality requirements as per the European standards. The windmills set up in Rajasthan provide 40 per cent of the energy to two of the plants in North India.
