With over 3,000 units working in a variety of applications ranging from bituminous roads and runways to concrete pavements, the Case 752 model leads the market, says Anil Bhatia, Director Sales and Marketing, Case New Holland Construction 每日吃瓜. Excerpts from the interview.

Could you tell us about the upgraded 752 tandem compactor?
Case in India has introduced a water-cooled engine on its popular Case 752 tandem compactor at the bauma Conexpo show. The 10.5 T Case 752 vibratory compactor with a water-cooled engine, which results in a substantial temperature reduction, will benefit customers with the engine's longer life and lower fuel consumption. The machine layout with the new engine also provides better access to components for servicing, reducing downtime and maintenance costs.

With over 3,000 units working in a variety of applications ranging from bituminous roads and runways to concrete pavements, the Case 752 model leads the market. The upgrade brings all these new benefits while retaining the compact dimensions of the machine, which will further strengthen its market leadership.

The equipment uptime is one of the major factors which customers consider while deciding on a machine. Time-bound projects need reliable machines. Case produces and supports the machine which ensures maximum uptime.

What is Case doing to minimise vibration?
As the purpose of the compactor is to produce vibrations near the drums for soil compaction, we are using high- quality, anti-vibration mountings to restrict vibrations in the rest of the machine. Apart from the above mountings, we have elevated operating platforms to keep the operator in vibration-free mode; the platforms are separated by anti-vibration pads from the chassis of the machine. At Case, we strongly believe that if the operator is relaxed while operating the machine, he will provide better outputs. The operator is one of the biggest influencers on production, uptime, fuel burn and machine life. We have also dramatically lowered the sound levels in our equipment. This enhances operator comfort, which increases productivity. Then, based on feedback from customers, we have improved the operators' comfort having introduced some modifications and changed the canopies to isolate the operators from the vibrations

How do you view growth prospects?
The growth of this sector is interlinked with the growth of the Indian economy and indirectly, with the growth of infrastructure. Factors like slow land approvals, high interest rates, a weak rupee and the slowdown in the mining industry have affected the market which registered an almost flat growth over 2012. There is huge growth potential for compactors in an India that is developing a lot in terms of infrastructure. While the construction equipment market looks challenging in the short term due to policy paralysis at the executive level of the government, the medium to long- term growth story of this industry seems intact.
