With 614,000 sq m of space, about 3,700 exhibitors from 63 countries and more than 620,000 visitors from over 200 countries, the largest bauma ever held was once again a bauma filled with records.<p></p><p> This year, bauma generated the best results in the exhibition's 65 years of history. With more than 620,000 visitors from over 200 countries, bauma 2019, the world's leading trade fair for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and construction equipment, once again witnessed a record-breaking show. The number of visitors rose by about 40,000 over the total produced during the previous event in 2016. More than 250,000 visitors came from countries outside Germany. The trade fair also experienced a strong increase in attendance from overseas visitors. The number of exhibitors totalled about 3,700 from 63 countries - likewise a record. With its unprecedented 614,000 sq m of space, the largest bauma ever held was once again a bauma filled with records.</p><p>During the 2019 edition, exhibitors unveiled a huge number of innovations and new products to the trade fair's global visitors. Many exhibitors spoke of a high willingness to invest. The record-setting bauma also had a strong impact on order books as exhibitors generated the highest sales in the history of their participation at the trade fair. </p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Innovation platform and economic engine</span><br />Thanks to the smooth operation of the exhibition and the consistently positive feedback by exhibitors, <span style="font-weight: bold;">Klaus Dittrich, Chairman and CEO of Messe Mnnchen,</span> was more than satisfied with the results of bauma 2019, &quot;For the industry, bauma is by far the world's most important innovation platform and economic engine, something that we clearly saw this year. Particularly in these times of sweeping technological change that is being triggered by digitalisation, bauma provides the industry with security and confidence. Thanks to the momentum in demand generated by the fair's seven days, companies will be able to calmly face economic slowdowns. bauma 2019 highlighted the opportunity and tremendous outlook of the industry as a whole.&quot;</p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Franz-Josef Paus, Managing Director of Hermann Paus Maschinenfabrik and Chairman</span> of the bauma Advisory Council, described the trade fair's unique character this way, &quot;With exhibitors from more than 60 countries and visitors from over 200 nations, bauma is an industry platform where technological variety, ingenuity and performance can be demonstrated to an immense international business audience.&quot;</p><p>The visit by many high-ranking political leaders underscored bauma's exceptional importance, a reputation that extends far beyond the industry itself. &quot;This trade fair is a showcase for Germany,&quot;<span style="font-weight: bold;"> Peter Altmaier, the German Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, </span>said at the opening of bauma. Dr. Markus Söder, the Bavarian Minister President, said, &quot;For me as a private individual, a visit to bauma has always been a highlight in my life.&quot; <span style="font-weight: bold;">Hubert Aiwanger, Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, State Development and Energy, Deputy Minister President,</span> also took an extended tour of the trade fair. bauma's partner country, Canada, was represented in part by <span style="font-weight: bold;">StTphane Dion, the Ambassador and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Jonatan Julien,</span> the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Bavarian partner province Quebec. The Chinese delegation was led by Wang Bingnan, Vice Minister of Commerce of the People&quot;s Republic of China.</p><p> <span style="font-weight: bold;">Megatrend digitalisation</span><br />The clear focal point of this year''s bauma was sustainable and digital solutions. All exhibitors agreed that digitalisation is a &quot;megatrend&quot; in the construction machinery industry, said <span style="font-weight: bold;">Andreas Klauser, CEO of PALFINGER AG.</span> Sensors and communication interfaces that collect and analyse data have become standard equipment. Overall, machines and vehicles are becoming cleaner, quieter and more efficient. Many now have electric and hybrid drive systems. &quot;Customers&quot; interest in electric drive systems has never been so high as it was this year,&quot; said Dr. Frank Hiller, Chairman of the Board of Management at DEUTZ AG. &quot;It was a dominant issue at bauma 2019.&quot; Some of the most interesting innovations were honored with the bauma Innovation Award on the evening before the trade fair opened.&quot;</p><p> &quot;The place to beö for seven days bauma's visitors added a strong new accent to Munich during the seven-day trade fair. There were people from all parts of the world everywhere you looked - this was the defining feature of the fairgrounds in Riem, both in the halls and on the outdoor exhibition area. Visitors massed at the trade fair's hot spots, the impressive vehicle and machine displays set up by major exhibitors. In addition to its industrial focus, bauma was also a huge world of experience and adventure with a selfie tower and Ferris wheel. Jorge Cuartero, Managing Director of the Spanish manufacturer association Anmopyc, summed things up this way: for a full week, bauma was &quot;the place to be.&quot;</p><p>The next bauma will be held from April 4 to 10, 2022, at the Messe Mnnchen Exhibition Center.</p><p> <span style="font-weight: bold;">BAUMA INNOVATION AWARD 2019</span><br /> Five companies and one university received the bauma Innovation Award 2019 for the best technical innovation in their respective category. The prize was awarded for developments that point the way to the future, are economical, environmentally friendly, practicable, and take particular account of people in their working environment.</p><p>Herrenknecht won the award in the Machine category with its E-Power Pipe^®. With this, the company has developed a process for the economical and environmentally friendly laying of underground cables. Cable conduits with a small diameter and a casing length of more than one km can be quickly and safely installed underground. This protects the landscape from major changes and thus enables greater acceptance by the population when it comes to laying power lines.</p><p>MOBA Mobile Automation bagged the award in the Component/Digital systems category. With the PAVE-TM system for automatic and non-contact layer thickness measurement in road construction, material requirements can be planned precisely and accident risks minimised because manual re-measurements are no longer necessary. This leads to enormous cost savings and a higher quality of the road surface.</p><p>Max Bögl won the innovation award in the category of Construction/Construction methods/Construction processes. With a mobile production facility for wind turbines, the company can completely implement German factory production as a mirror image anywhere in the world. In this way, it avoids costly transport and promotes the local economy. </p><p>The Technical University of Munich won the race in the Research/Science category. Together with their partners, they developed a driver guidance system 4.0, which supports the construction machine operators with holograms during their construction site activities. Virtual 3D models and data from different sources overlay real objects and the environment. The operator receives all relevant information in the field of vision. This provides a better overview and facilitates the implementation of changes in the construction process.</p><p>Liebherr Hydraulik Bagger won the award in the Design category. With its new operating environment for construction machines, the company takes the next level of digital control environment by combining physical and digital units: it integrates standard tablets into the control environment of a construction machine and implements the requirements of machine operators using an intuitive Graphics Unit Interface. Man will no longer just operate the machine, he will communicate with it. </p><p> <span style="font-weight: bold;">INDIA DAY SYMPOSIUM</span><br /> In principle, Indian industry has great potential for Germany especially in the areas of manufacturing, infrastructure and energy which are major growth sectors in India. A great deal of perseverance is needed until talks and discussions come to a successful end. Perhaps new developments in terms of technology and business models will give fresh impetus to Indo-German relations in the raw materials industry. </p><p>During bauma 2019 in Munich, a country special session on India, the &quot;India Day Symposium&quot; was organised by the VDMA Mining and VDMA India on April 10, 2019 at the bauma forum in Hall C2, which offered the next good opportunity to sound out new perspectives for new business.</p><p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Sugandh Rajaram, Consul General of India </span>in Munich was present as the Chief Guest. A delegation from the Singareni Collieries Co (SCCL), the second-largest coal producer in India, headed by N Sridhar, Chairman and Managing Director, also attended the symposium. Sridhar made a presentation on &quot;Development of Coal Industry in India&quot;.</p><p>Also a 45-member delegation of Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) led by Arvind K Garg, President, and Sandeep Singh, Vice President, also joined the symposium. Garg made a presentation on &quot;Construction Equipment Market in India and Future Trends&quot;.</p><p>Rajesh Nath, Managing Director, VDMA India moderated a panel discussion on &quot;India: An Important Market for the Machinery Industry - Opportunities &amp; Challenges'. The panelists who participated were: Michael Schulte Strathaus, Schulte Strathaus GmbH &amp; Co.
