Could you brief us on the company?
Hydraulics Works of L&T Construction Equipment, a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro was established in 1982. We are in a position to deliver hydraulic solutions to meet the needs of construction and earthmoving equipment, mining machinery, industrial, energy sectors as well as bulk material handling segments.

At the recently established manufacturing facility in Doddaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, the company is well equipped to engineer hydraulic systems for customer specific applications through a well-equipped design and R&D centre.

How do you view the market for construction equipment in India? How can an expo like Excon give a boost to this market?
Indian GDP growth aspiration requires considerable infrastructure focus, in terms of development of roads, ports, power, affordable housing and development of smart cities. Project completion periods will drive the growth for construction equipment sector. Excon presents the perfect platform for all the stakeholders to interact and identify growth opportunities.

What are your expectations from Excon 2015? How was the response in the previous edition of the event?
L&T Hydraulics is independently participating in Excon for the first time. We expect to get good response from all the OEMs as we are one of the leading manufacturer of hydraulic aggregates under one umbrella, and with a presence across application sectors.

Introduce us to the products that will be exhibited at the event. Any new launches?
We are displaying all our current range of products including hydraulic cylinders, high torque low speed motors, pumps, swivel joints and hydra ulic systems which are being manufactured at our state of art facility in Doddaballapur.

What interest do you expect your products to generate at the event?
Going by the past trends of participation and visitor profile, we expect a good response for sourcing of hydraulic aggregates. We are also willing to collaborate with our customers for jointly developing new products.

Give us an understanding of the sales volume that you expect to generate.
We have an ambitious growth plan and expect a significant visibility through our participation.

What are the factors that compelled you to participate in an event of this nature?
Growth of hydraulic industry is intertwined with the growth of the construction equipment and mining sector. With all the industry majors present in one event like Excon, participation provides for extensive and deep engagement in one place.

What are the major challenges in the equipment industry in India now? Do you view the situation changing anytime soon?
Lack of policy clarity, quick project clearances, availability of cost-effective funding are the major challenges facing the equipment industry. It is only a matter of time before the situation changes for India to achieve and sustain the targeted growth rates.
