Yanmar ViO25 proves ideal for road construction in urban areas
A 2.5 ton Zero Tail Swing Yanmar mini-excavator helps restructuring the Nikolai Quartier in Hamburg?s city centre. With its compact dimensions, the ViO25 is the ideal choice for working in the restricted space of the downtown area. Here, the company Osbahr uses the machine for paving works. For many years, the expert company in gardening and landscaping has been relying on machines from the Japanese manufacturer.
Since February 2016, the Yanmar ViO25 is used at the construction site near the Hamburg Town Hall. The sideways of the streets are being renewed on both sides in order to enlarge the pavement and to improve the general appearance of the city centre. The broadened pavement will have a boulevard-like character. Next to it, a lowered space will serve as a loading zone and for short-term parking. In order to ensure that the road remains accessible in one direction, the mini-excavator has to have very compact dimensions. Thanks to its true Zero Tail Swing, the ViO25 has no rear counterweight overhang. With its small swing radius and narrow width, it shows full performance within a working radius of only 2.5 metre. Its many attachment possibilities allow the use of the Yanmar ViO25 for a wide range of applications: Fitted with a digging bucket, it breaks the existing base layer of the pavement and digs the ground. Afterwards, it fills in the new base layer using a ditch-cleaning bucket. Finally, a paving of high-quality concrete blocks is laid on the new base layer. The construction works in the section Grosser Burstah started at the end of October 2015. Now, the work is continuing in the streets Grosse Johannisstrasse, Kleiner Burstah and Moenkedamm.
